ARA Australian Cycling Team selected for 2025 Tour de l’Avenir Femmes
Jul 21, 2025
AusCycling is delighted to announce the ARA Australian Cycling Team for the 2025 Tour de l’Avenir Femmes.
The third edition of the under-23 women’s stage race will run parallel with the men’s race, from August 23–29 over a mountainous parcours in the French and Italian Alps.
In her final year as U23, Alyssa Polites brings a wealth of experience to the team having also raced the first two editions of Tour de l’Avenir and having won the mountains classification at this year’s Tour Down Under.
Promising young climbers Mackenzie Coupland and Talia Appleton both bring plenty of international racing experience having raced at last year’s tour and represented Australia at the 2023 UCI Junior World Championships.
Sophie Marr also returns to the squad for her third Tour after winning the ProVelo Super League and securing a contract with Liv Alula Jayco Women's Continental Team for 2026.
Rounding out this year’s squad is 2023 junior time trial world champion Felicity Wilson-Haffenden and national time trial champion Alli Anderson who will make their Tour de l’Avenir debut.
This year’s race begins with an uphill prologue at Tignes, followed by two flat stages, two lumpy stages, a mountain stage, and culminating with a challenging mountain time trial.
“Tour de l’Avenir Femmes is a great chance for our up-and-coming athletes to gain some valuable experience racing on the international stage, to see where they stand, and to show what they can do whilst making the most of all opportunities during the week," AusCycling Director of Pathways Donna Rae-Szalinski said.
