After an incredibly successful campaign at the Paris 2024 Games, the ARA Australian Cycling Team returned to the world stage with outstanding performances across road, track and BMX.
As always, the eyes of the road cycling world turned to Australia in January.
The ARA Australian Cycling Team were in the thick of the action, with young riders Alyssa Polites, Fergus Browning and Rudy Porter riding aggressively to claim mountain jerseys at the Santos Tour Down Under and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
On the track in March, our men’s team pursuit picked up from where they left off, winning gold at the UCI Track Nations Cup in Konya, Türkiye, albeit with four line-up changes from last year's memorable Olympics.
Oliver Bleddyn was the lone Olympic champion in Konya, but the 23-year-old was only required in the first round. his teammates Josh Duffy, James Moriarty, Blake Agnoletto and Liam Walsh took charge in the gold final against the USA, exemplifying the depth of talent in the national squad.
The ARA Australian Cycling Team won bronze medals in the women’s team pursuit unit and men’s team sprint, cementing a successful week in Türkiye.
Finally, in BMX Freestyle, our Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Logan Martin bounced back from a disappointing Paris campaign to claim his third rainbow jersey at the 2024 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Martin is now the only male rider to have won three world titles in BMX Freestyle Park.
