One week after his maiden UCI BMX Racing World Cup elite win, Josh Jolly has added a second in Chongli, China.
The 20-year-old looked every bit a World Cup winner throughout Round 7 but saved his best for the final, winning by 0.841 seconds and multiple bike lengths.
Jolly laid down a 36.436 burner in the main and shaved 0.564 seconds off his next fastest lap in the process to become the only rider all day to break into the 36-second range.
"I'm stoked. Coming in last weekend, having such a great weekend, and then coming here, I was a little nervous," Jolly said.
"I had a little mechanical in the semi and I was getting told that I might not even get to start because we had to get the bike finished.
"So, to get over that, I was super stressed that race. Calm myself down and get on the gate and do what I just did. You know, I'm so happy."
In the final, Jolly ripped the holeshot from the inside gate and shut down any potential first turn dives with a smart fade to the left over the first straight quad.
"I definitely did turn left a little bit on the quad there because I knew if I tucked in tight in the corner, he could high low me and get the better line and more momentum down the straight," Jolly said.
"So, I was just looking for the fastest line around the corner and obviously it worked with the new fastest lap.
"I'm loving it (in the elite category), to be honest.
"These two tracks in China are actually so fun.
"Most of the practice session here the other day I was just doing skills, different lines and having fun on my bike.
"So, I think, the more I can have fun, the faster I'll get, and, yeah, it seems to be paying off."
Sienna Pal finished sixth in women elite, while Bella Schramm finished third in U23 women to score her second podium of the season.
Men elite world champion Jesse Asmus slid out while leading his 1/8 final.
Teya Rufus crashed in her semi after getting caught in a three-rider incident over the first straight quad. The Queenslander was able to pick herself up and finish the moto.
Round 8 will be raced tomorrow in Chongli.
