Mixed team sprint brings Tokyo Paralympics track campaign to a close
Aug 28, 2021
Meg Lemon, Gordon Allan and Amanda Reid lined up for Australia with smiles on their faces in the Mixed C1-5 750m Team Sprint. The event entails three riders starting and completing three laps, with one rider dropping off after each lap.
Lemon led the dynamic trio in the opening lap, coming out of the blocks well. Lemon peeled off after the first lap with Gordon Allan leading the duo before Amanda Reid brought it home in the final lap, crossing the line with a time of 56.989 seconds.
Unfortunately, Australia just missed out on the medal finals, bringing the Track Cycling campaign to a close. Our Australian Paralympic team competed in eight events across the four days, bringing home a staggering three gold, two silver and one bronze medal in a historic haul.
A handful of our track riders will back up their fantastic track performances on the road, with the road events beginning on Tuesday, August 31 as ten members of the Australian Paralympic Team take part in the time trial events.
