BMX Freestyle World Cup up for grabs on the Gold Coast

Dec 8, 2022

Seventeen of Australia’s BMX Freestylers will take on the best at the UCI World Cup to be held on the Gold Coast from Friday 9 to Sunday 11th December.

It's the third round of the UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup, for the Park format, and also acts as an Olympic qualifier ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Leading the local charge is 2020 Tokyo Olympic Gold Medalist Logan Martin and former world champion Brandon Loupos.

Standing in their way for the elite men title is the newly crowned world champion from Japan Rimu Nakamura, who also won the Montpellier round earlier in the year and World Cup winner from Brussels in July Anthony JeanJean from France.

The elite women’s competition is expected to be red hot with newly minted World Champion Hannah Roberts as well as Olympic champion English woman Charlotte Worthington in the field of 20.

American Roberts also won the July World Cup round in Brussles.

Three Australian women will be represented by Sarah, Nicki, Anais Prince and Mylee Toohey.

Only 12 riders will make it through to the finals on Sunday.
