A 16-athlete ARA Australian Cycling Team will race at the 2026 UCI Track World Championships this week at the first event of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifying cycle.

Fourteen of the squad featured at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Liam Walsh returning to the men's endurance squad and Maeve Plouffe to the women's endurance squad.

Felicity Wilson-Haffenden is the sole member of the squad set for an elite Track Worlds debut.

Maeve Plouffe, Sophie Edwards, Claudia Marcks, Alyssa Polites join Wilson-Haffenden.

Blake Agnoletto, Thomas Cornish, Conor Leahy, James Moriarty and Walsh form a motivated men’s squad aiming to turn two silver medals from their two recent major events into gold.

On the sprint side, Glasgow sensation Leigh Hoffman has his eyes on more medals alongside Ryan Elliott and Danny Barber.

The trio won team sprint Commonwealth gold and bronze at last year’s Track Worlds in Santiago.

Kristina Clonan, Alessia McCaig and Molly McGill will look to win Australia a third straight women’s team sprint world championship medal, with Clonan back for another Track Worlds campaign after missing 2025 due to injury.

How the team fared in 2025

The ARA Australian Cycling Team effort travelled to Santiago, Chile a year ago and returned with two silver medals and three bronze medals.

Leigh Hoffman led the charge, winning his first individual Track Worlds medals via keirin silver and sprint bronze. He would also ride at second wheel for the bronze-winning team sprint alongside Ryan Elliott and Danny Barber.

The men's team pursuit comprised of Blake Agnoletto, Oliver Bleddyn, Conor Leahy, James Moriarty and Liam Walsh settled for silver in a gold medal final versus Denmark.

A second consecutive women's team sprint bronze was won by Alessia McCaig, Molly McGill, Kristine Perkins and Liliya Tatarinoff.
