The ARA Australian Cycling Team is locked and loaded to race for rainbows on home soil at the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane, Australia.
A team of 22 will wear the green and gold in the elite, under-23 and junior categories this Saturday and Sunday.
They will be cheered by a home crowd at the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre over the next two days.
Olympic champion Saya Sakikibara and fellow Olympian Lauren Reynolds return, targeting a maiden elite world title and rainbow jersey.
“I’ve done everything that I could to get here,” Sakakibara said. “I’m really happy with my preparation and all I have to do is trust myself and do my best out there.
“I think there’s a good group of us who can take out this title, but I don’t like to put too much focus on other riders because the biggest threat to my performance is myself. I’ll be focused on my process and allowing myself to do my best.”
Local favourite, and last year’s elite men's runner-up, Izaac Kennedy unfortunately crashed during official practice and will not compete this weekend.
National champion and Brisbane local Jesse Asmus will race in his first elite UCI World Championships, alongside Tamworth’s Jack Davis.
Joining Sakakibara and Reynolds in the elite women category are rising stars Teya Rufus, Sienna Pal and Bella May.

Championship racing will be broadcast on SBS and Fox Sports for Australian viewers. Coverage will begin on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm and Sunday at 11:50am.
