May 31, 2023

AusCycling has selected 12 riders to represent Australia in the U19 junior downhill event at the 2023 UCI World Championships in August.

Kael Foale will head to Fort William, Scotland off the back of a perfect summer season after taking out the AusCycling National Mountain Bike Championships and the AusCycling Downhill National Series.

The South Australian will be joined by the top six place-getters at the February championships, all making their World Championships debut.

Lewis Allbon produced solid performances to take silver in Thredbo and finish second overall in the Downhill National Series, while Jed Stanton claimed the bronze medal at the National Championships.

A second at the Adelaide round of the National Series and a top 10 performance at the National Championships saw Rye Carlyon book his ticket for Scotland.

Victorians Mitchell Claxton and Nathan Dabbs also join the team along with New South Welshman Will Ireland who was fourth at the National Championships.

The junior women will see the National Championship medalists make their debut at the iconic downhill venue in the green and gold kit.

Sacha Mills has had a standout Australian season claiming her first junior crown at Thredbo earlier in the year.
