Lauren Reynolds misses out on final at fourth Olympics 

Lauren Reynolds suffered a disappointing end to her fourth Olympic Games campaign after failing to progress to the final this morning (Australian time).

The 33-year-old was on track for the final, sitting in sixth place after two semifinal runs.  

However, her Games came to a cruel end in her third run, when she was squeezed off the track and out of contention.

After a slow start, the West Australian had made up good ground. She entered the third straight in fourth place alongside French rider Axelle Etienne. But it all unraveled over the next jump: Reynolds appeared to bobble slightly upon landing, and with no room to move, she veered off-course and came to a complete stop.

Although she managed to stay upright and finish her race, Reynolds crossed the line last. The result pushed her down the overall standings to 10th, meaning she would miss out on the final, which was then won by Australian teammate Saya Sakakibara. 

Reynolds made her first Olympic appearance in London 2012 and is one of just three Australians competing at their fourth Olympic Games in Paris.  She is the only Australian BMXer to have achieved that feat.
