Quest begins for Enduro riders at MTB World Championships in Valais

The ARA Australian Cycling Team’s elite enduro athletes begin their quest for the coveted rainbow jersey at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais..

Five riders will don the green and gold as they tackle a challenging six-stage race across technical trails beneath the awe-inspiring Aletsch Glacier.

Tasmanian standout Lacey Adams heads into her world championship debut as a favourite after claiming the junior women’s overall title in the UCI Whoop World Series..

Despite a previous crash at this very venue, Adams remains upbeat.

“I’m a little bit nervous, I actually broke my collarbone there last year, so I have a few little milestones to overcome but I think I’m confident going into it after the season I’ve had so far,” she said.

In the elite men disappointment for Dan Booker who has decided to withdraw from racing due to ongoing issues with previous injuries.

That leaves Jack Moir and Thomas Locke as the remaining riders.

In the E-bike category Ryan Gilchrist will relish racing at the venue where he took out the World Cup round back in 2024.

With a pump track world championship already to his name, the New South Wales rider would love to add the e-enduro bike rainbow jersey to his collection.

The Championships mark a historic moment, as Valais hosts all eight disciplines of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships ranging from enduro to short track across a single region for the first time.
