National track endurance coach Tim Decker to pursue international opportunity

Jan 21, 2022

AusCycling’s National Track Endurance Coach, Tim Decker, has announced he will be leaving the Australian Cycling Team to pursue an international coaching opportunity.

Decker, who has coached Australian track teams and riders to multiple honours, said while the decision was a difficult one, the timing was right after more than a decade in the system.

‘’I have made a tremendously difficult decision after 11 years to resign from my role,’’ he said. ‘’A new opportunity has presented itself , and I believe now is the right time for a new challenge. It has been an absolute privilege and honour to work as part of the Australian Cycling Team and represent Australia over this time.

‘’I am very proud of my contributions to the team and the achievements of the athletes and staff I have coached and worked with. Amongst Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games records and medals, I am most proud of witnessing my team’s strength and bond when faced with adversity both on and off the bike. I wish all the athletes and staff at AusCycling the very best for the future.’’

AusCycling CEO Marne Fechner thanked Decker for his long-term commitment to Australia’s track cycling program and said he left with the best wishes of the Australian Cycling Team and the broader AusCycling community.

‘’Tim has delivered across many years at multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games and World Championships,’’ she said.

‘’He will always be part of the AusCycling family and we look forward to seeing him whenever his new role brings him back to Australia.’’

Decker will leave the role on January 31 and moves to recruit a new National Track Endurance Coach are underway.
